My first thought of this image was that the guy in the Tempest (is it a Pontiac Tempest?) could have been Michael Douglas in the movie Falling Down.

Kinda cool seeing the little Euro stuff in the midst of all the big American stuff! I want that Dauphine! :D

hahaha.
I haven’t seen that movie in YEARS so I read the wiki on it. GD...it was a crazy plot. I need to watch it again.

Fortunately, my experience doesn't require much imagination. And back then we all had them...and behaved appropriately!!

Amazing how similar our highways looked 50 years ago.

My parents and grandparents have mentioned at times that driving was more enjoyable when they were young, because there wasn't as much traffic. I kind of call BS, especially since they all lived in Philadelphia, which had like 25% more people than it does today.

The traffic is horrible here in Santa Barbara a good part of the time too... Then you look at photos from 1950 and realize there’s always been too many cars trying to transit too small a highway...

Renault Dauphine on the right please. But I wouldn't mind the Morris Traveler behind the big old Pontiac in the middle lane. But the Austin Healy isn't a bad shout either. Still, that Dauphine is the real winner hear. Interesting assortment of cars in this photo.

Or you could have any of the other white ones. I just think that little Dauphine is such a delightful quir ky little thing that I couldn’t pass it up. French cars were never very common in North America but especially now.
The Morris might be an interesting choice simply because I could keep it on the road easier than the Renault.

This guy is doing it right. Though he could loosen up the tie a bit while he’s out of the office.
